Loki Hangar
$60,000
This project will build a suitable structure able to hangar a Cessna Caravan and a Cessna 206. It will also provide office space for AIM AIR’s Loki program, storage space, and the basic tooling needed for complex maintenance of our aircraft to take place. AIM AIR’s central maintenance facility is 365 miles away in Nairobi. An on-site facility will greatly reduce the time and money expended keeping these aircraft dispatch-ready. The new Loki hangar will enhance AIM AIR’s ministry into Sudan, and beyond, by streamlining our operations, reducing cost, and allowing for the growth of personnel and aircraft.

406 Mhz Emergency Locator Transmitter
10 Units at $2500 each - $25,000
An ELT is a transmitter that is activated automatically by the forces incurred in an airplane crash. The new 406 MHZ ELT's are a vast improvement over the old VHF units bolted inside our airplanes. They utilize satellite and GPS technology coupled with a government agency to detect signals and alert the operator. The signal detection is improved from hours to minutes, location accuracy from 450 square miles to a few hundred feet, and they work anywhere an airplane may go down, even through a thick jungle canopy.

Avionics Shop Upgrade
$10,000
This project involves removing all the existing Radio Base furnishings (work benches, storage units, office furniture) and installing newly constructed furnishings. New furnishings are to be built and installed according to a new design which maximizes the utilization of space. The construction and installation of the new furnishings will be done by AIM-Tech. The present shop configuration has served well in meeting the avionics and electronic repair needs of AIM and other missions since it opened in 1982. The increase in the number of individuals in the shop, increased equipment required to repair today's electronic items, the need for separation between different types of repair operations, the need to replace aging furnishings, and the need to meet the regulatory requirements of aviation authorities, have precipitated the need for a redesign of our shop facilities. Our goal has been to produce a design that will serve AIM AIR and AIM well into the future.
